NCC Exclusively Showcases ChargePoint Multifamily Products at NAA’s APARTMENTALIZE.

With renters making up 36% of the nation’s 122.8 million U.S. households, two industry leaders present electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions designed to make electric driving a reality for rental residents.

The nation’s largest and most experienced EV charging station reseller and installer, Denver-based National Car Charging (NCC), announced it would attend the National Apartment Association’s annual conference Apartmentalize in Atlanta, GA this week (booth #3841). The reseller, who has a dozen years in the EV infrastructure industry, will be showcasing several products from ChargePoint, the leading U.S. manufacturer of EV charging solutions.

“We’re incredibly excited to be back at Apartmentalize and bringing the ChargePoint multifamily charging solutions with us,” shared Jim Burness, the CEO and founder of National Car Charging. “With both electric car ownership and the number of Americans renting rapidly increasing, EV charging is no longer a nice-to-have for apartment buildings, it’s mission critical.”

U.S. EV sales exceeded the 5% tipping point in 2022 – a 57% year-over-year increase (source: Automotive News). Similarly, the rental market boomed with rates increasing 31% over the last ten years (source: iProperty Management).

“Renters, like their homeowner peers, crave the benefits of driving electric,” Burness said. “They want to do better by the environment, but also want to take advantage of the lower maintenance costs and fuel savings.”

A 2020 Consumer Reports study showed EV drivers tend to spend about 60% less each year on fuel costs compared to gas car drivers; however, with more 80% of all charging occurring at home, EV ownership can be challenging for rental property residents.

“No two rental properties are the same or have the same needs,” shared RJ Harrington, SVP of Business Development at National Car Charging. “Some properties only have space for shared charging while others have assigned parking spots and need individualized solutions. For this reason. ChargePoint is the ideal fit. They’ve developed a myriad of solutions designed specifically for the unique needs of multifamily living.”

The ChargePoint multifamily flexible solutions address all these challenges making it easy for residents, whether they own their meter, share a meter, or have assigned, shared or mixed-use parking. Likewise, their software management tools allow property owners to see usage statistics and to control pricing based on energy cost, duration, time of use, session length or driver group. These tools also give owners the ability to manage access, allowing them to determine which drivers can use what stations and when. It also opens up the opportunity for property owners to host car sharing and community charging with the flexibility of different rate structures.

In addition to their comprehensive flexibility, ChargePoint solutions offer future-proofing for properties through their scalability, allowing property owners to grow with the demand of their residents.

National Car Charging and ChargePoint have been partnering on EV charging projects since 2012 within the multifamily space and across all business channels, and in 2023, National Car Charging was named the ChargePoint Reseller of the Year.
