NCC exclusively showcases ChargePoint & debuts Essentials Program at NAA’s 2024 Apartmentalize.
Two industry leaders join forces to present reliable and affordable electric vehicle charging solutions to make electric driving a reality for rental residents.
The nation’s highly accomplished electric vehicle (EV) charging station reseller and installer, Denver-based National Car Charging (NCC), announced today that it is attending the National Apartment Association’s (NAA) annual conference Apartmentalize this week in Philadelphia, PA (booth #1832). The reseller, who has 12+ years in the EV infrastructure industry and more than 11,000 installed ports nationwide, will be partnering with ChargePoint, the leading U.S. manufacturer charging solutions manufacturer, to debut their new Essentials Program which marries ChargePoint’s high quality with affordability and is designed specifically for the unique needs of multifamily living.
“We are thrilled to return to Apartmentalize and showcase our multifamily EV charging solutions from ChargePoint,” shared Jim Burness, CEO of NCC. “With EV sales growing and more Americans choosing to rent, adding charging is now mission critical for property owners. ChargePoint, by far, delivers the best driver experience which of course translates to easier property management. And their new Essentials program pairs the quality they are known for with unprecedented affordability.”
EV ownership continues to rise. Americans purchased more than 1.4 million EVs last year, a 51% YOY increase. Sales were mostly driven by environmental responsibility and lower fuel and maintenance costs; however, with more 80% of all charging occurring at home, EV ownership can be challenging for rental property residents.
Millennials, who dominate the rental market with 17.2 million renter households (a 42% market share), are heavily influencing how it evolves with their eco-friendly preferences. They are flocking to apartment communities that feature green technologies like solar panels, on-site ride-sharing programs, intelligent thermostats, energy-saving mechanical systems and electric car charging stations - making EV charging a game-changer in attracting and retaining residents.
“Millennials and their values are redefining the rental market place. They want to live greener and like their homeowner peers, crave the many benefits of driving electric,” Burness said. “They want to do better by the environment, but also want to take advantage of the lower maintenance costs and fuel savings, which can be as much as 60% over gas cars.”
J.D. Power's 2023 U.S. Electric Vehicle Consideration Study ranks Millennials the highest (72%) among those considering purchasing an EV and the largest percentage of those who said they were “very likely” to consider an EV (37%).
“There is high demand for multifamily charging especially among Millennials, but the challenge is no two properties are the same or have the same needs. Some only have space for shared charging while others have assigned parking,” shared Kamala Vanderkolk, Business Development lead at NCC. “Unlike other brands, ChargePoint has a solution for every scenario, making it the ideal choice for owners with multiple properties because they offer networking software to unite and manage them all.”
ChargePoint’s multifamily solutions address the industry’s unique challenges - whether meters are owned or shared, or if the property has assigned, shared or mixed-use parking. Furthermore, their networking software provides property owners data mining opportunities and tremendous pricing control. Owners can set pricing based on energy cost, duration, time of use, session length or driver group and it is deployable across properties, regardless of the station configuration - making them incredibly easy to manage.
ChargePoint, who has consistently set the industry standard with their high quality feature-filled products and maintains the one of the country’s largest and most used charging networks, will be debuting their new Essentials Program at Apartmentalize with National Car Charging. The new product bundle makes adding, managing and controlling EV charging in an apartment setting easier and significantly more affordable. With lower hardware and software costs, the Essentials program allows property owners to more effectively meet the market demand while also delivering a top quality product that won’t contribute to our landfills over the next few years.
National Car Charging and ChargePoint have been partnering on EV charging projects since 2012 within the multifamily space and across all business channels. In 2023 and 2024, National Car Charging was named the ChargePoint Reseller of the Year.
